Eat Real Fest Recap – Brunchie Pop-Up – UNIQUE LA!

I am Festival Wasted.  Hungover from the euphoria of the bliss weekend that was Eat Real Fest.

Let me be the 1,948th person to say, Carmaggedon weekend was awesome.  Surreal, yet fantastic to see all the freeways tagged Green and side streets Red and Yellow.  While I remained optimistic, (Ok, maybe a shade skeptical) we had no idea the turnout would be as great as it had been despite the gloom and doom predicted for the weekend.  We knew good things were to come when we started selling before the show opened.  The Helms District was abuzz with folks hankerin’ for some local eats, demos, and little piggies sleeping!!  (So sweet, you little bacon makers.)

If you’ve seen our booth at Artisanal LA or Unique LA, you may have noticed that we staff pretty deep with our friends and family that have generously taken their time to help us slang our desserts.  Saturday morning/early afternoon, however, we staffed with just SG, my brother, and me pushing our desserts to the festival goers.  And push, we did.  Eat Realers made us work hard for the money and cups of creme caramel and bread pudding were flying out of our booth.  SOLD OUT BY 3:15pm!!

(Thanks Adri d. for the Instagram.)

Having learned from our past events, we made sure to separate our Sunday inventory, but even so, we felt that we needed to make more.  The next day we made a last ditch effort and took a crew of 4 people back to the kitchen to cook more bread pudding.  Good thing since we sold out again at 1:45!  Our crew had given notice to our (hopefully) new friends that we’ll be back with more at 3pm.  At exactly 3:09pm we walked back to the booth and HOLY GEEZ, there was a line!

I apologize for my giddiness and lack of sophistication, but I was doing a dance of joy that people actually like our desserts.  (Ok, sorry – this turned into a Dear Diary post – bear with me.)  20 minutes later.  SOLD OUT AGAIN!!

(Thanks to Kyle d. for the pics.)

We spent the remaining hours apologizing for not making enough and handing out cards and info about our next event, Unique LA Summer Show – July 30 & 31st in Santa Monica (Hollurr), but I’m getting ahead of myself… our next event – our 1st Pop-Up Brunch at Fix Coffee.  We’re making breakfast versions of our bread pudding – sweet AND savory – and bringing brunch to Echo Park.  Check out our eats this Saturday, July 23rd, 2011 from 9am until we sell out.  From what we hear from the Fix Coffee loves, neighbors have been salivating (no pun intended.  Ok, maybe a little bit) for breakfast in these parts.  We hope the Echo Parkians like our eats.  Get there early… we’re anticipating selling out here too. :)  (Oh, and we WILL have bread pudding and crème caramel to take away.)  More details on our brunch menu posting this week on this blog.

(Respectfully taken from the Fix Coffee FB page)

Lastly…

The Unique LA show is back and this time in Summer vision!  Designers and crafters with one mode in mind – to keep you shoppers in a frenzy with their lovely pieces of art that just so happen to be on sale for you to take home.  Clothing, accessories, furniture, and things you can’t imagine you wanted will be filling Barker Hanger in Santa Monica.  And we will be there with dessert on!!  Check us out in the Cafe for a little pick-me-up.  We’re bringing another “unique” eat to this show (we launched our Shopping Topping at the last Unique LA show – Salt n Pepa Potato chips, crumbled with chocolate cookie wafers, and topped with a toasted Plush Puffs marshmallow.) and we hope you like it. :)

Thanks for reading.  Stay tuned for more info about our Pop-Up Brunch at Fix Coffee (Echo Park) and Unique LA posting later this week.  (Oh and we’re back at Melrose Place Farmers Market in West Hollywood this Sunday! AND of course,  you can get your CCLA fix at Broome Street General Store in Silver Lake.)

Have a good one, all.

XOXO,

KdlC
