If you happen to follow a local Angeleno food blogger’s post, you are more than likely to find their treats at this annual Charity Bake Sale on Saturday, December 10th. Cathy Chaplin of Gastronomyblog.com spearheads this sweet sale and for a GREAT cause: All proceeds go to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank! This event was our first foray into the public arena and we’re happy to participate once again. This time we’re making BOAT TARTS! We’re making two caramel based tarts with a sweet crust: Mango/White Chocolate and Pumpkin/Toffee. Stop by the Pita Jungle for yummy eats!
Shawna Dawson, SauceLA, gave us the greenlight at last year’s 1st Holiday Pop-Up and we’ve been up and running ever since! We’re happy to bring our treats to Pasadena (TWICE in a weekend!?) and this time with over 50 vendors, along with Arroyo Time Bank‘s Alta Dena Urban Farmers Market! We’re bringing our treats and will also take your holiday orders for delivery. If you swung by our booth that first time, we hope to see you at this event! Let’s make it a tradition!

Every event we’ve participated in since December has been amazing and this weekend we will add another to that Awesome Event list. Check out what they have in store:

Leche Flan, that is. Our mother crème caramel recipe is based on our family’s leche flan recipe adapted by my aunt and uncle. And we’re showcasing it this weekend at FilAm Arts, Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture in San Pedro!

We’re at the Street Eats event this Sunday and we’re bringing our crème caramel and bread pudding! Here’s our menu:

If you didn’t know, we use Cast Iron Gourmet‘s CAJUN BACON in our Caramelized Bacon Bread Pudding. Not only is her bacon fantastic, but the Chef/Owner, Rashida is a gem. If you’re planning to go to Street Eats, stop by their booth for some Couch Mix and other Bacon goodness. (Note: She does FRIED TURKEYS for the holidays, so hit that girl up and get in line!)
We’re also bringing along other friends Plush Puffs (topping our “Shopping Topping” dubbed during our time at Unique LA events.) and All Spice Cafe (SPECIAL limited quantity of Jolokiberry Jam Crème Anglaise!) on Sunday. It’s going to be a little LA FOOD party in our 10×10 booth.

Our Eat Real Fest participation (in addition to working with local food producers) gave us the opportunity to showcase our eats at the Good Food Festival & Conference – Street Fair in Santa Monica. Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Santa Monica Farmers Market, the Good Food event is a 5 day sojourn combining good eats, good people, and good food purveyors that will “focus on regional and national issues integral to building a local and sustainable food system while supporting the needs of California family farmers.” We’re participating in the Street Festival – imagine a farmers market on steroids. (Well, a farmers market on organically grown and sustainable steroids, if that were possible) It’s going to be a blast! Get your tickets HERE.

Crème Caramel LA will be at Unique LA’s First Summer Show that will be held at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, but we know we’re not the highlight. The fantastic designers and tasty craftmakers curated by Sonja Rasula and her team are the showcase that feeds your eyes and soul. We’re just the stuff that fills your belly. We’re gearing up for our 1st Pop-Up Brunch taking place on the patio of Fix Coffee this Saturday, July 23rd. We were lucky to meet the Fix Coffee baristas at the Unique LA show last Spring and they are FANTASTIC! They brew up Intelligentsia Coffee and have a super cute coffee spot located in a charming Echo Park neighborhood. Plenty of shady trees and a covered patio made our collabo a no-brainer. And you could not ask for a more helpful and knowledgeable crew at Fix Coffee.

We’re serving our versions of brunch savory and sweet baked items – Crème Caramel LA Style!
Savory Breakfast Bake: Bacon, Arugula, Gruyere, and Parmesan baked with savory eggs and Challah served with a side farmers market fresh fruit salad.
Sweet Baked French Toast: Cream Cheese Custard spiced with Cardamom & Nutmeg get cozy with Strawberry in CCLA’s version of Baked French Toast, also served with a side of farmers market fresh fruit salad. (Forgot to add that this will be GLUTEN-FREE!!)
And all items are $5.50. YAY!
